Commercial High-Pressure Processing Systems

The simplest use of HPP is that of a post-packaging process. This ensures product integrity by placing it in the final flexible consumer package prior to the HPP step, no post HPP contamination can take place. The packages are loaded into a handling basket and placed into the pressure vessel. This allows for rapid changeover between product types, package size and format, for liquid or solid foods.

Some food items, including molluscan shellfish (oysters, clams and mussels) and crustaceans like lobster, are processed in their freshly harvested, unpackaged state when the processing goal is to remove the product from its shell more easily.

As a total solutions supplier, Avure can provide even greater utility through the automation of load and unload cycles.

We provide commercial-scale systems with pressure vessel capacities from 35 liters to 320 liters. Usable pressure depends upon the vessel size, with maximum operating pressure at 87,000 psi (600 MPa). Custom system are also possible.

87,000 psi systems

The Fresher Under Pressure H358L System is a horizontal system intended for higher production levels. A maximum working pressure of 87,000 psi will achieve rapid food borne pathogen destruction for targeted food safety and shelf life goals. Built on the proven 215L system, the new horizontal cylinder arrangement increases plant installation flexibility since minimal special construction is required. However, since all of the equipment is located at the same level, the horizontal ordination requires more worker level floor space than the vertical. Contact Avure to learn more about this system.

The Fresher Under Pressure 215L ULTRA is designed for high throughput in large-volume plant operations. With 87,000 psi pressure to target Listeria, Salmonella and E. coli, the 215L ULTRA helps ready-to-eat meat processors achieve FSIS’s Alternative 1 status. The 215L achieves the most space efficient layout of equipment by placing the pump and other supporting mechanical equipment at a sub-level below that of the vessel operator. This minimizes overall plant space requirement and facilitates rapid product cycles since the system does not have to be drain at the end of every cycle. The Fresher Under Pressure 35L system is the right choice for entry-level production volumes, product formulation and product development. With 87,000 psi pressure and a compact skid-mounted footprint, it provides full-featured HPP capability on a smaller scale. Click here to learn more about the 35L system.

Moderate pressure systems

The Fresher Under Pressure H687L System is the largest standard production system for moderate pressure applications such as shellfish meat removal and ready-to-cook meat processing. The horizontal layout may avoid certain existing factory height constraints. A horizontal orientation avoids the sub-level construction requirements and makes system installation and relocation more feasible. However, when compared with a vertical system, additional worker level equipment space is required for locating the pumps and supporting equipment. Contact Avure to learn more about this system.

The Fresher Under Pressure 320L System provides a larger vessel capacity at pressures to 58,000 psi (400 MPa). The 320L system is designed for moderate pressure applications such as shellfish meat separation. A vertical orientation minimizes overall space requirement but requires some additional facilities construction. Click here to learn more about the 320L system.
